Compiling a layer in order to view CSS (Solved)

I don't think my problem is specific to a layer, it's more of a general question about compiling layers & CSS.

All right, so I'm using an external stylesheet to format some things in my layers. However, I have found that editing the stylesheet itself is not enough to actually change things in the layout when I refresh the page. In order to actually have the changes I've made in the stylesheet show up, I have to re-compile the layer (I don't have to change anything in the layer itself, just hit "save"). I don't think this has anything to do with adding the !important to the CSS, but I want to know why the information in the stylesheet isn't being read by LJ unless I recompile the layer. As you can imagine, this gets pretty tedious & slows me down considerably.

At first I thought this might be a problem with my host for the CSS file, but I've tried two completely different hosts & have had the same results.

Is there any way to fix this problem I'm having, or is it just one of those things that I'm going to have to live with (ie, it's inherent in the system)?
