Extra Component spacing/order

Hi. This may be a stupid question...but I am really OCD and need things to be as close to perfect as possible. So in my layout, I am going crazy trying to figure out how to get rid of this darn lil line thing that is in between my "Control Panel" & "Calender". Its pretty much hard to see unless you look for it...and it is especially hard to see on mine due to the fact I purposely used a busy background to camoflauge it. It is there though, and I don't like it! So...if anyone can help me by telling me how to get rid of it...I would be so thankful! Oh, and the 2nd thing I am wondering is how to move my control panel all the way down to the bottom of the collumn. Thanks in advance.
