Replace Component, Date and Nav Bars With Images

I'm going to be redoing my layout soon & I'd like to know (before I start) if it's possible to use a gradient image file as a background for the component headers as well as the date headers and nav bar. I'm pretty sure I can change the date & nav bars, but I'm not sure about the component headers.
