Layout changing

Hello!
I've always wondered if a skin changing effect was possible on livejournal.
Where a user can choose which skin they wanted from a list.
I always figured it wasn't possible, but I recently saw that angelbunnyjp had done it, with a component layout.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me in the way of a tutorial, or shed any light on this.
