Smiles in entry

I was able to successfully implement smilies in my entries and reply page with this tutorial. I didn't have a """ $e.text """; so I replaced the $e->print_text(); and got all the smilies to display. The only problem is that the videos (photobucket, youtube, etc ) in my journal and on my friends page won't show. Is there something I can do so that both work? Any help would be appreciated. :) Thank you in advance.
