Horizontal scrollbar?

I'm using the Scrolling Entries tutorial, because long comment threads stretch out my entry page, and I'm trying to get a horizontal scrollbar at the bottom. I inserted the code without any errors, but I'm still not getting a scrollbar. I've tested this in IE and Google Chrome with the same result.
