Getting Started

Anyone who's been here for awhile already knows how to use all (or at least most) of the codes, but when people first switch to S2 or Component, they usually have a hard time just getting started with the customizing. I thought I'd write something that was *very* simple for people who are new to Component and don't know where to start.

This is pretty much like what was said in the Additional Components tutorial, but I wanted to write one without the extra information of how to add the components or or using properties and all that... Trying to make it as easy as possible. Cuz to be honest, I got a bit confused figuring it out from that tutorial when I first started customizing Component...

There needs to be a "Do you really wish to remove your customizations?" alert box when your dog bites your toe and you reflexively click on that button. *grumble* Anybody know how to fix my rounded corners? They show up white now. :(

almost there....

Good news: I finally figured out how to put an image above my LJ. There's not one there now, because I first have to figure out:

Bad news: How do I reduce the space size between the top of the screen and the top of my LJ? It's way too big.

I've been reading in ljdesigners where beetwo has the first letter of every entry a different font and size. According to what I'm reading, it's a CSS tag:

td.entries:first-letter { font-family: scriptina, verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; font-size: 400%; float: left; color: #002AB2; margin-right:10pt; }

From the other discussions, it looks like each style uses a different name for the entry text. I thought that component used "entry", but tried that, and it didn't work.

Anybody have any idea what I would use, or if it will even work in component?
