techupdate pointed out to me that to get the FreeFind Search to work, you have to set the starting point (under the "build index" tab on the FreeFind Control Center) to http://www.livejournal.com to get it to work... So if you are having problems with it, try that and it should work.

I just asked aelana to add that to the tutorial.

Also, if you want to make the search results show up on a page that looks like your component layout, you will have to view the source of your journal, and then customize it in an html editor to get rid of all the entries and stuff. Then add in ::title:: where you want the search result title to show, and ::content:: where you want the search results to go. Then upload it to FreeFind in the "Customize" tab in the FreeFind Control Center.

I just got it working here, so you can now search *all* the entries, and see a sitemap of this community. And the search results show up in a page that looks like this community (minus the previous/next links, update component, and calendar component)

masterslacker has been added as a maintainer to this community.

Thank you masterslacker for adding the link/edit/memory buttons to the entries!

It seems like the entry_link and entry_link_visited over ride any other link colors, such as calendar_link and header_link, is this true, or am I doing something wrong? Additonaly, what do the inside_border, outside_border, and system_border set? When playing around with colors I can't get them to do anything.

Anyone know why suddenly I can't see userpics/etc in the comments section of my LJ..

What can I do to fix that?

Other than the hideous color ;)

Hi, I'm new to the whole S2 thing. I've managed thanks to the many tips in this community to make my LJ look just how I want it to. I only have one more question that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere.

How do I change the colors of the links for "1 Comment / Leave comment" in Entries, without changing the colors of other links in other components?

Thanks!
kunzite1
for those of you who actually used my stylesheet update in the second section of this entry, you should go back again and add and alter the couple lines of code. i am now using a slightly newer set of functions and some newer logic that should help with your components looking the way that the should.

This entry and most of its comments have been deprecated in favor of the 5-step Program in the Beginners' Guide.

Whoa! I figured out how to increase the space between my component boxes and entries. Yeah me. But I'm still having trouble finding where I can increase the spacing between entries. helphelphelp.

I've noticed that quite a lot of the time, it seems to be me and liabunny who have the troubles with the print_custom_head in terms of the stylesheet overrides. I'm starting this to see where we're having our troubles and what they are, so we can fix them, or find where the problem is not on our end. I'll reply to this post with my own personal difficulties, but for now let's just discuss who's having problems where, and with what involving the use of the following two functions.

  1. function Page::print_custom_head() {
  2. function print_stylesheet() {
