I've been trying to find some examples of the get_url function but can't seem to find any.
how does it work exactly?
If possible I wanted to use it in order to get some entries (or just the subjects) from another livejournal and put them in a component in my own. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance! :)

I've been talking with a member of this community about changing my font for some stuff, basically here's my only question that's arisen out of the discussion.

If I choose to edit the following in my user layer
set font_family = "Times New Romans, serif";

to something like
set font_family ="Fred, Times New Romans, serif";

does that mean that in the event that the user doesn't have Fred as a font in their computer, Times New Romans is displayed for them, and if not Times, then serif?

Has anyone devised a way to customize the look of security icons, memory buttons, or the little ljuser icons?

So what's it mean when no one answers a question? Does that mean no one knows the answer? Does that mean there just -isn't- a way to do what is being asked? Does it mean that its so simple that everyone just figured someone else would answer it and no one got around to it? *chuckles*

Maybe it really is just something really simple and I just don't have a clue. And I really hate to be all like making a second post about the same thing but if there's a way to do it I really do wish I knew how. So could anyone tell me how to go about changing the title on the -Friends of Friends- page? if its even possible? please?

Oh... and maybe how do you change the title on the pages made when filtering friends' groups? It would probably be done the same way I guess and I know that's been done I've seen it.... so anyone? pretty pretty please? if its already explained someplace and I just didn't see it even just pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. thanks.

Poll #258647 What does your layer-source look like?

What does your layer-source look like?

I copy the whole thing over and leave in all the stuff about pink/blue/green/red

I copy it over, then delete the helpful commented stuff, and then I get confused.

I learn what it does, then I copy it in, remove the comments, and add my own little commenting.

I haven't a clue how this stuff works, my source is quite messy.

I've organized everything nicely, so I know what functions are where and what they do.

If it doesn't compile the first time, i just go back to S1.

i have two questions.

1) i was interested in change the time/date format, so that it would actually list the day of the week. i read the tutorial and put some code in my custom layer, but i imagine i missed something, so it didn't work, and therefore, the code just showed at the top of my journal. can anyone help?

and

2) i don't know if this is due to something in my custom layer, or what, but on my friends page, when i go to click on someone's userpic to go to their journal, this is the url/code that comes up:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/youredeadtomexx/
[Error: Irreparable invalid markup ('<span%20class='ljuser'%20style='white-space:nowrap;'>') in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]

if i click on their username, though, it goes to their journal.
anyone have any idea why this happens, and how i can change it, so that clicking on the userpic will also take me to their journal?

thanks.
