Kilalah colored

a huge thanks!

I just wanted to thank everyone in this community for all the tutorials and ready-to-help members for help requests. Without you guys I'd have a boring regular component style with only my own color scheme and background to differentiate my own component style from others. I'm sure countless other members would say the same.

You guys rock!!

I need some mini-help...

I'm new here, and I have a question I'm almost embarrassed to ask... can anyone help me get my scrollbars to change to custom colors? After studying all tutorials that seemed to remotely deal with the subject, I have the following at the top of my theme layer:</p>

function Page::print_custom_head() {
"""
<style type="text/css">
body { scrollbar-base-color: #b1120e; scrollbar-arrow-color: #f4f4f4; }
img { border-width: 0px; }
</style>
""";
}

I thought that would be enough to change it, but apparently not. And it's not that the body tag doesn't work - I tested it with the cursor property earlier and that change showed up. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

Replacing the nav bar error

Kunzite1 pointed out in this thread a tutorial to replace the nav bar. I put in only the blue lines, but when I compile, I get this error:

S2 Compiler Output at Thu May 20 06:40:08 2004
Error compiling layer:

I'm using the Components on both sides code, like this:

(The nav bar replacement code is in blue.)

Any clues?

Font problem

Hello everyone,

I was trying to change the font of my journal and I succesfuly did through "Edit Customizations" on the LJ customize page. But when I change it size to "small" on the Presentation Tab even though it changes it, I find the remaining font within my journal to small.

Titles, page summary, navigation and profile component and some other text look smaller than the text within the entries [ which is the size I would like to have in the entire journal.

So, what I'm asking is if there's a way to add a line within the theme layer I'm using...so it overrides the "small" setting, and changes it to a defined font size, say "11px"

I'd appreciate any help. Kunzite tried on one of the comments at the later entry, but I'm not really quite sure what to do...haven't done much coding myself to understand it clearly.

Thanks :)

uh-oh I've screwed things up again.

  1. Linking to LJ Users:
    Did they change the format for linking to lj users? Because the following code which displays: tjackson, doesn't work on the Custom Style i'm testing right now. Odd. It works here, and in my other styles. Odder

    <lj user="chsllama"> - I am doing it right, right?

    According to kunzite1, <lj user="blahblah"> is only parsed in entries and comments
  2. The latest and greatest masterslacker tutorial, Changing Navigation Bar To A Rounded Component, isn't displaying worth a damn in Internet Explorer. Anyone know why?

    Well I had been screwing with it to try and get an additional 'usability' feature up there, and I prolly broke it. I recopied from the tutorial, and all is well.
  3. The HTML for the little itty bitty lines that seperate various things and are kinda common in LiveJournals, don't like Internet Explorer either. In case you don't know what i'm talking aboot...

    <div class="entryDash"> <img src="$*SITEROOT/palimg/component/clear.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0" /> </div>

    In conclusion, Internet Explorer sucks a fatty. I just threw in some HR tags and i'll work on messing with their color and appearance through stylesheets. Ugh.
  4. The transparency code found, here in the brief 'FAQ's tutorial, doesn't like Mozilla FireFox or Internet Explorer.

    Well with the help of kunz, I finally got it behaving like I wanted it to. Basically I couldn't get entry's bgcolor to be transparent, and have that work without setting compBG's and entryHolder's bgcolor to the same, so what we did was to set entry's background to the same image as the page's background and give it the same starting position as the page's background (top left). Seems to work ok.. ... moving on
