I have looked in the tutorials, and gone back entries, and have been on my computer for 2 hours trying to figure this out! I recently got a paid account, and component, and I am asking you guys for help.
1. Basically, I want my journal layout to look like toldthespiders so my entries are in the middle, there's a header at the top, and sidebar.
2. How do I get links, and text into the sidebar? Right now I only have the regular calendar, userinfo, userpic, etc. in it.

I'm attempting to add the nifty date format to my journal, which is currently set up with components on both sides. The problem I'm having is that, in order to do so, I had to set the width of the main entry area and its header to a fixed amount (in my case, 594px). If I left it at "100%", the middle component pushed the added ones on the right completely off the screen. (The left and right side components are acting strangely, too, inasmuch as they sometimes display at twice their width, but I don't know if that's a byproduct of the added code or something else entirely, lol.)

However, having fixed width means that my journal will display inconsistently, depending on the browser and resolution of the viewer. Is there an easier / better way to incorporate the two functions? My meagre attempts at coding can be seen here. :)

I'd like some help regarding the code for the pretty date. I've read the tutorials for 3 days now and I just can't seem to make it work. I've meshed two tutorials together (components on both sides and centered and slim components) and they work a treat, all I need now is for the date code to work. The function print_entry_header code isn't anywhere in the other code I have and I've unsuccessfully attempted to add it myself. If anyone would be willing to look at my layer and give me some pointers I'd really appreciate it.

Hi. I'm fairly new to journal customizing, and have been using this tutorial by liabunny on adding components to both sides of my journal. Everything works except the $comp_footer code. Whenever I try and compile everything, I get and error message concering $comp_footer. So, I've been compiling without $comp_footer, and my components all run together, which isn't how I'd like them to look. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

New & need help...please??

Hi, I just recently got a paid account and have spent the past few hours trying to customize my journal, using component obviously. I finally got an image at the top using this tutorial. I've been searching here & there for the things I was wondering about but haven't had much luck, unless I'm looking in the wrong places.

Anyways, I was wondering how to move the navigation bar to either below the header image or on the side, above my profile.

Also, I would like to know how you get an icon to show up with every post. Oh and I read that to change the comments links, you have to go to edit customizations, but whenever I do that, it just stays on that page. It just reloads it and is making me angry. I'm guessing it might have to do with my computer being stupid but I'm not sure.

So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ETA: Oh yeah, is there anyway to change the scrollbar colors too?

I'm trying to change the format of lj cut tags, so that the link would have brackets around it instead of parenthesis.

I'm not sure how to go about doing that though. I looked through the s2 documentation to see if there was a variable to play with or something, but didn't see anything related to cut tags.
