Another question:

How can I get rid of, or change the color of, the highlights that make the Component layout look 3D, and of the component borders?

Example:

This is what the components in my layout look like:

This is what I would like my components to look like:

Component Help

pamelajoy uses images for her "View Comments/Reply" functions, and she doesn't have lines between the different links in her Navigation Component; I'd like to adopt that. I know I seem lazy/incompetent, but I'm really frustrated with my layout.

Also, I want to know how to make the double-dashes appear on either side of my default icon, like so.

I know the default Component setting does that, but when I implement the code in pamelajoy's tutorial, the dashes disappear. This is what I have now:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

funky stuff (comp_footer)

Hey, I need some help.

For some reason, my right-side components are messed up. The bodies extend 1 or 2 columns past the header.

Here is my comp_header function:

function print_comp_header(string content) {
  var string style = ($*comp_state == "right") ? " style='margin-right:3px;'" : "";
  """
  <tr$style>
    <td class="dkLine" colspan="3"><img src="$*PALIMGROOT/component/clear.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0" /></td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td class="dkLine" colspan="1"><img src="$*PALIMGROOT/component/clear.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0" /></td>
    <td class="tabBg"  colspan="1" width="100%"><font class="sideHeader" style="position:relative; left:4px;" width="100%">$content</font></td>
    <td class="dkLine" colspan="1"><img src="$*PALIMGROOT/component/clear.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0" /></td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td class="dkLine" colspan="3"><img src="$*PALIMGROOT/component/clear.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0" /></td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td class="dkLine" colspan="1"><img src="$*PALIMGROOT/component/clear.gif" width="1" height="1" alt="" border="0" /></td>
    <td class="compBg" colspan="1" width="100%"><div class="compFont">
  """;
}

Now, I can see that the table is 3 columns, and it leaves the "substance" to be printed in the 2nd of 3 on a row. However, I don't have it overriding comp_footer, so I have no way to specify the number of remaining columns. The only reason I haven't overridden it is because I'm not sure what exists, as in would I be leaving some crucial code out.

Fancy Date

Firstly, just wanted to say this is a great site!

I have successfully used the codes in the tutorials here to shrink my component size and to add another component box. I would also like to make my date the 'spiffy date' if I can...but I just can't figure out where to insert the code from the tutorial to make it work. My code right now looks exactly like the code in the 'shrinking and centering' tutorial....can someone please tell me where to add in the code for the fancy date? Thanks very much!

o__o ok well i just made a new layout and i want my entries to have a border and the only way i can seem to get one is to change the header bg of fg color. i can't remember which one. but is there a way to get a border around them without the top part of the entry being colored too?
