Text: Talk Nerdy To Me

Header border problem... eek!

First, let me start by saying that though I just joined tonight, your community is the only reason I'm not completely insane right now! :)
I seriously appreciate your constant patience, and ability to communicate your knowledges to all of us "noobs." :)

Onto the issue I'm having.

I have been working on a layer for about a week now (not what you see on my current journal - don't wanna post the new one until it's completed which will be soon if I can get past this road block). I've managed to cut and paste a million things from this valuable resource, but while doing so I've ended up slightly confused.

I used the Shrinking & Centering tutorial, and did a basic cut & paste (and modified to fit my journal). I was thrilled to finally get a header image. The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to create a border for my header image. I am versed in HTML, but this LJ s2 stuff throws just enough in there to leave me baffled from time to time.

The problem is this:

function page_layout(Page p) {
var string k1Swidth = "800px";
var string k1Sheader_url = ""; # optional header image url
var string k1Sheader_alt = "Lovemelikemusic's LJ header"; # optional header image alt text

That works gloriously (thank you very much!), but I don't see how I can customize it with the inline style sheet. There's no where to add a class option or anything of the sort. All I want is a measly 1px border (I can be so anal about the smallest things, sorry).

Any help you might be able to offer would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you, in advance, for your time.

(no subject)

I'm using components on both sides (great tutorial, by the way) so I have 7 components total and I may add more. However, I want my friends page a bit neater. So, I used if/elseif statements to modify the component layout for my friends view. Two questions:

1) What if I want no header image (or maybe a titlebar or navbar instead of the image) on my "cleaner" friends view? As far I as I can tell, those items are part of function page_layout(Page p), right? I can't seem to find a way to have more than one page_layout for a single style. Is that possible?

2) Is there another (I don't really want to say easier, because the method I'm using isn't especially hard) way to achieve what I want?

Thanks.

Question?

I looked through the memories and couldn't find anything on this:
- I'm trying to take down the links from the top of the journal (I.E User info, previous, friends) the navigation links, I just want to vanish them off. . just, erase them from the journal (I'll add them to a component in the future). Is there any way of doing this?
Thank you.

Wikipedia Search Component - English Language Only

Wikipedia Search Component modeled after the Google Search Component. (Clean, simple, small, and customizable).

  • This search box will return results in English only.
  • Tested in IE. I assume the cross browser compatibility will be okay although I have not tested it in other browsers.

A working (altered) version of this component is viewable mid page on my journal.

Enjoy!

edit: by kunzite's suggestion I have altered some of the img src code to make it cleaner.

Just a few more questions ... but you have been so helpful lately

Thank you to everyone for all their help especially kunzite1 </span>I know i've been such a pain in the ass lately but I have a just two more questions.

First,

the M/T/B is an awesome layout from kunzite1 but one question ... my img url will not compile. I am using img src code.

Second and last,

I want to use the Rounded Nav Bar Tutorial from masterslacker  but I am confused on where to insert/combind the code with the S&C tutorial I currently have in my layout.

Thank again for all your help.
