Component Help

I've tried everything I can think of, gone through miles and miles of LJ codes (old and new) and am still getting nowhere.

I've been messing with and trying to figure out these for days now, but am not getting any further :( I know there's got to be someone out there that knows what I am doing wrong,...help?

(Wow, it took me 4+ hours to post this thing....)

I went through the FAQ & I couldn't really find this...sorry.

I'm trying to get rid of this:

And try and make it blend a little bit more like my top component box.

Any ideas on how to do it?
If you could help me, that would be GREAT.

It's possible that I am blind and cannot find this...
But how do you get the component boxes to be squared. An example would be declined.

Also, how can I add a background? Probably really simple, but I'm slow. :(

1 last thing... How do I change the colour of the scrollbar on my components? I'm probably the worst ever, I just need help! Thanks darlings.

this has not been tested.

if you plan on making several of these components, you will want to append a number to the end of each italicized variable.

hmm... how about something like "if you use the tutorials by ignited, pamelajoy, cherry styles, or any others that are bunches of stock code, we won't help you."

those are difficult to insert the code found in the tutorials into.

also, most of the stuff that goes on in those code chunks are available in tutorials here. and the code in here is prettier. and easier to tweak, if you know what you are doing. and if you don't know what you are doing, it makes it easier for the people who do to be able to add it to your layer(s).

so... how about it? dropping support for people who get those?

okay so I'm attemtping to throw together a component layer, but there are some things I'm either not understanding or not am not seeing here.

the colours and the components are totally how they're supposed to be, but the banner image at the top of the page is MIA. I was wondering if anyone could take a look at my code and tell me if there's somthing that doesnt work? cause when I complie the changes, I dont get any prompts telling me that something doesn't work.

I'm using the customize the summary component tutorial, and was wondering if there was a way to edit the summary component for the Reply and Entry views..?

If not, is there a way to make it not show up at all on those pages?

Because it looks ugly there. =o/
