If you'd like to pimp the community in your LJ or your info page you can use one of the following banners/icons/buttons. You're welcome to create more and drop a comment here with a link to the image so that I can host it myself for others to use.

How do you insert a button or a banner?

By copying/pasting the following piece of code with a valid address for the image.
  <a href="">
    <img src="" border="0">
Firefox and Opera users: Right-click on the image then select "Copy Image Location" and paste/replace with the correct address. Paste the new code wherever you want.

IE users: Right-click on the image then select "Properties." In the new window, select the address (URL) with your mouse. Right-click and select "Copy." Paste/Replace with the correct address. Paste the new code wherever you want.

i saw this on someone's component layout, i just don't remember whos..

how do you make it so that when you[or someone comments on your journal with one] type in a smile, like :), it shows up as a little graphic smiley?

background image not showing up

Ok, sorry guys this is my last question. I've almost completed my layout, aside from fixing the colors and whatnot. I can't seem to get the repeated background ( image to show up, I'm not as good with html but I was wondering if someone could look at this code and see where I should put the repeated background image. I want there to be a header on top and the repeated background image in the back.

Collapse )

I tried doing set page_background_image = ""; but it didn't work. I also went to the customizations and to presentation and made sure the url was placed there.

Basically, the only thing that shows up is the header image.

Please, if anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, if my question is a bit confusing!

Any ideas on how to use the get_url function?

I’ve looked this up everywhere I can think and none of it seems to go anywhere:

So I’ve been trying to think of ways to post my AudioScrobbler recently-played list in a component on my journal. I was quite disheartened when I read that LJ doesn’t allow any ways to import an external page, but then I came across this Component Help thread that gave me a little bit of hope.

So I created a syndicated user that included the feed. But here’s where I get stuck, since none of the users who have written ANYTHING about the get_url function have given any means of using it to grab data from that user. For that matter, I can’t seem to find any information anywhere on how to import data even from another LJ user to post in one’s own journal.

So I guess my question is this: How can I use the get_url function to grab entries from another user? I suppose that a secondary question would thus be how can I then take that XML data and format it using the XML tags? I suppose that, given the formatting of the feed, I may only need the header of each one, but I’m completely at a loss.

Has anybody at all had luck with this? It’s a great feature that I would love to implement into my own journal. I’m absolutely certain there has to be a way to do it, but I tried reading the documentation for S2 and almost literally went crosseyed.
