Edit #2: Solved this on my own!

All right, I have a question that isn't necessarily specific to component, but that's the layout I'm trying to work in, so I am posting here.

I want to be able to have userpics appear with my entries, but I want to make them no larger than 50px in width or height. I know how to write the code so that the image size will always be 50x50, but that is not exactly what I want. Instead, I would like to be able to have the icon's proportions retained when either the width or the height is resized to 50px. Essentially, I don't want the icon to look "squished" or "stretched" when I resize it.

I cannot figure out how to do this. At all. I'm not having an error when I compile the script, it's just the effects are not appearing in my browsers (Firefox, Safari on Mac). I'm guessing this has to do with the undefined width or height property in the HTML. I am not playing with CSS so this isn't a CSS issue. Anyway, here's my code under the cut.

Edit: I'm thinking I might just have to come up with some sort of algorithm to make this work, but I honestly have no clue how to do that without going through each possible pixel size & figuring out what the height/width ratio is.

Hello. Sorry if this is somewhere in the archives, but I couldn't find it :}

So I have my header up. I've copy-pasted the code exactly and you can see the image on my LJ page. Only problem is that it is behind my Journal. Like it doesn't recognize that the journal should be bumped down to make room for a banner header.

Much obliged for any help :D ETA: Thanks for the patience in the question & the kind help :)

ETA- The Solution: In the [function Page::print_custom_head()], you need to put !important in front of each semi-colon in the code

A few days ago all of my customisations concerning the look of my journal (header, colours etc) just disappeared! The other ones, like my links list and the links for leaving comments, are still showing but there is no header and the colours etc seem to have gone back to default. The weird thing is, I went into the customisations area and the header code is still there, and the colours that I've put in are still there.

Has this ever happened to anybody before? Does anyone know what's going on? The stripy background is giving me a headache and I don't want to delete all of the customisations if there's a quick way to fix it.

Thanks for any help! It will be greatly appreciated.

Yup, fixed, thanks. Maybe a sticky post at the top of the comm would help weed out all our idiot problems? Just a suggestion. But yep, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

When LJ changed their CSS stuff, my Component layout got a bit tweaked. Nothing major, just the font. The font I normally use is Tahoma, but on my layout it shows up as Times New Roman. So I was hoping one of you guys could help me? I don't know how to make my layer public, but I copied all the code into this .txt file.
