Update Component Question

I have been reading thorugh the old entries and just reread http://www.livejournal.com/community/s2component/2495.html, regarding adding an update component. I like this component, but I wanted to know if it is possible to add options for mood and userpic to this component so that the entry can look like it was from the update page or an update program?

I have done lots of work on my page making custom components and lots of random things (header picture, user picture, quotes, dragon pictures, etc...) I added the profile extras and recolored the icons for it to match my page. I really have had a good time doing what I have completed, but really would like to know if the component I want can be made more functional.
